The library provides materials and resources for information, entertainment, intellectual development, and enrichment of the people of the community. The library should endeavor to:
2. Notary Public Services
Notary Public Services will be provided at the White Pigeon Township Library in accordance with the laws of the State of Michigan. Notary Services will be available during regular library hours when notaries are scheduled to work, up until fifteen minutes before closing.
Notary Public services are offered free of charge to all patrons in good standing (not owing $1.00 or more to the library for fines or fees).

The Notary will maintain a journal wherein each transaction will be noted, along with the identification provided.
Notarizing a document does not constitute a legal review of the document’s content, nor is the Notary Public qualified to give legal advice. The White Pigeon Township Library reserves the right to refuse notarizing documents for any lawful reason or any reason pertaining to library operations.

1. General Library Services
The library provides materials and resources for information, entertainment, intellectual development, and enrichment of the people of the community. The library should endeavor to:
- select, organize, and make available necessary books and materials.
- provide guidance and assistance to patrons regarding both in-house and local area resources.
- sponsor and implement engaging programs, exhibits, and displays, which appeal to children and adults.
- cooperate with other community agencies and organizations.
- secure information beyond its own resources when requested. (Using interlibrary loan and other resource sharing methods provided through the library cooperative and/or the state.)
- lend items to other libraries upon request.
- develop and provide services to patrons with special needs.
- maintain a balance in its services to various age groups.
- cooperate with, but not perform the functions of, school or other institutional libraries.
- provide service during hours which best meet the needs of the community, including evening and weekend hours.
- regularly review library services being offered.
- use media and other public relations mechanisms to promote the full range of available library services.
2. Notary Public Services
Notary Public Services will be provided at the White Pigeon Township Library in accordance with the laws of the State of Michigan. Notary Services will be available during regular library hours when notaries are scheduled to work, up until fifteen minutes before closing.
Notary Public services are offered free of charge to all patrons in good standing (not owing $1.00 or more to the library for fines or fees).
Patrons seeking Notary Public service must:
- bring completed, unsigned document to be notarized. The documents must be signed in the presence of the Notary Public.
- present a valid government-issued picture identification.
- provide witnesses, if applicable. Witnesses must know the signer personally and not be solicited from library patrons at hand.
Notary Publics may not:
- notarize documents that are already signed.
- sign as a witness to any document that they are notarizing.
- notarize documents that are not in English and are not allowed to use a translator to communicate.
- notarize documents with blank spaces other than the space for signature.
- certify a copy (e.g., verify that a reproduction of an original document is a true, complete and correct copy of the original).
WPTL Notary Publics will not notarize:
- Mortgage and Housing Refinance documents
- Final Wills
- Notary Protests
- Homeland Security I-9 Forms
- Blank Forms
- Pages not related to the body of the document
