IV. Who May Use the Library / Special Needs Patrons
1. Who May Use the Library
The library will serve all residents of the community and the public library system area (as described in X. Circulation Policy section A and B). Service will not be denied or abridged because of religious, racial, social, economic, or political status; or because of mental, emotional, or physical condition; age; or sexual orientation.
The use of the library may be denied for due cause. Such cause may be failure to return library materials or to pay penalties, destruction of library property, disturbance of other patrons, or any other illegal, disruptive, or objectionable conduct on library premises.
2.Special Needs Patrons
In order to serve as many of the service area population as possible, the library strives to meet the needs of patrons with visual, audio, and speech impairments.
The staff is prepared to assist patrons with special needs by referring them to existing materials owned by the library and using the Interloan system to borrow items from other Michigan libraries. Staff may also direct the patron to appropriate websites to help patrons with their needs and questions.
Library staff will be updated as materials and resources change so that they are ready to help when needed.
